I’m Val, I’m 27 and I love living my life exactly how I wear my hair: completely natural with a slight manic twist on everything!

I cook, and then I cook and then I COOK. I am going to share with you pretty much everything I do in the kitchen. Whether that’s just opening up a can, sticking it in a pan, adding a couple of spices and hoping for the best or being completely DIY. I have tried to avoid it for some time now, but the truth must come out … I really love to cook and I’m pretty good at it too. My guinea pigs are my family, the occasional friend and my long-suffering partner. And now, I will share my recipes with you, my very special readers!

I am a bit of a foodie, so we are going to cover everything from my parents’ home towns of Jamaica and St. Kitts to my birthplace, Brooklyn (another Italy, haha) to my take on Asian, Latin, Indian and many other cuisines. I will attempt to remain as organically authentic as I can be without obnoxiously doing so. While the source is important to me, of equal importance is remaining within a certain price point and most important of all, keeping my family fed and happy!

I love to eat, I love to taste and most importantly, I love to savor my food. I like things spicy, so we are definitely going to get spicy. But I will try to remember to cool things down for those of you who like the more tame side of life. 🙂 So join me on this long ride towards self-discovery, continuity and total mouth-bliss … it may get uncomfortable at times, but I hope that you’ll stick it out with me.
